My Reflection paintings depict a quiet and contemplative place where the only movement is the passage of time as it is marked by subtle shifts in shadows and reflection. The resulting compositions are compilations of the patterns that the winter sun produces on a seemingly blank wall, representing the multi-layered images that form unique perception and memory. This series evolved into Sacred Spaces paintings, based upon remembered sights and sounds, including those from dreams, which reinterpret events and become inseparable from them. As these paintings evolve, music and spatial effects become essential components and are translated into color and geometry respectively. Ultimately the paintings are a narrative about the nature of past memories and the shadows they cast on the present, darkening some moments and leaving others illuminated.
